(Photographer and painter Franco-Cuban nineteenth century) and Justo German Cantero (medical doctor, pianist, composer, poet, author of "Cuba Wits") Laplante reached Cuba around 1848, taking up residence in Havana and a year later established as a lithographer, considered the best Cuban lithographer at the time. Travel the interior of the island, in order to capture its landscapes and the most important sugar plantations, makes detailed descriptions of rural life in Cuba, including sugar plantation.
